Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder's peace offering is philanthropic contributions to as-yet-to-be-determined Native American causes.
"[W]e’ll have to decipher Snyder’s motivations solely from the letter he sent to 'everyone in our Washington Redskins Nation' Monday night. The letter that more or less, details all the money he plans to throw at various Native American causes in order to continue justifying his team’s use of a name that many inside and outside of that community find offensive. In October, Snyder hired Washington lawyer and spin doctor Lanny Davis to find a way to put a positive public relations twist on the controversy over keeping the name and well, this is the result." -- Chris Strauss, USA Today
