On February 9, The Giving Review ran a piece authored by Julius Krein, “What Do Conservative Donors Want?,” that alleges that the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) “recently had to hold an all-hands meeting to discuss whether it was still a conservative institution.”

The statement is laughably false. No such meeting has happened, or could happen, at AEI. AEI is a non-partisan organization and does not have institutional positions—we do not back parties or politicians. Scholars have the academic freedom to disagree with management and each other.

Keller is AEI’s spokesperson.
