When corporate art meets corporate philanthropy: In CO, some companies are focusing on not just their lobbies, but on localism and appreciation value.

"It's a fine line. Corporations are generally upfront about what and why they purchase art. They talk about how a collection can brand their business, impress clients and make their offices attractive workplaces, a tool for recruiting new employees. Most don't go so far as buying paintings to match their conference tables, but they do look for pieces that reflect their values and accomplishments.... But, [Simon] says, the emphasis is on strengthening the local art scene, either by displaying world-class work or by putting on shows of regional artists in high-traffic office tower lobbies.
