David Bass

David Bass is communications director and grants officer for the John William Pope Foundation, a North Carolina-based philanthropy that makes $10 million in annual grants to public policy, education, humanitarian, and fine arts nonprofits. Prior to joining the Pope Foundation, David served as associate editor at the John Locke Foundation, a free-market think tank.

David has contributed hundreds of reporting, opinion, and analysis pieces to a wide range of publications, including National Review Online, The American Spectator, Education Week, and Stanford University’s Education Next. His work has been featured by The Drudge Report, The Washington TimesThe Charlotte Observer, and RealClearPolitics.com.

David holds a B.A. in journalism from Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, New Jersey.
