Goodwill and 2 other nonprofits will receive nearly $2 million in federal aid to prevent NM veterans from homelessness.

"The federal government is awarding grants of $1.9 million to three nonprofit groups for services to New Mexico veterans who are homeless or in jeopardy of losing their homes. U.S. Sen. Tom Udall said the grants from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will help pay for a wide range of assistance, including for rent, utilities and moving expenses as well as transportation and child care. About $1 million will go to Goodwill Industries of New Mexico to help veterans in 26 counties and on some tribal lands." -- Associated Press
