Here's to 100 more: A NE branch of Knights of Columbus celebrated its first hundred years of "philanthropy and service" with a Mass and banquet.

"Members of the Knights of Columbus traveled by train from across the region to David City on Jan. 25, 1914,  to launch a local service organization that is currently part of the world's largest Catholic fraternal group. About 350 Knights and their spouses, arriving from Lincoln, York and Columbus, were escorted to St. Mary's Church. There, according to the Butler County Press, Tihen Council 1717 'was firmly inaugurated in its field of usefulness.' One hundred years later, Tihen Council 1717 is still providing charitable services to the community and promoting Catholic education." --  Shari Reisdorff and Jim Reisdorff, the (David City, NE) Banner-Press
