UK report urges native charities to "build a culture of charitable giving that plays to our strengths," not just seek to emulate American tradition of generosity.

"The UK should play to its own strengths rather than seek to replicate the US culture of charitable giving, even though the US is the most generous country on earth, according to a new report from the Charities Aid Foundation. Give Me a Break: Why the UK should not aspire to a 'US-style' culture of charitable giving, published today, says that the position of the US as the most generous country in the world, as confirmed by CAF's World Giving Index 2013, published in December, led many to suggest the UK needed to build a 'US-style culture of philanthropy.'" -- Sam Burne James, ThirdSector.com
