The foundation for the 2015 World Series Champions, Kansas City Royals, has a longstanding history of charity in the local Kansas City area.

"The Royals’ philanthropic foundation, Royals Charities, handed out a record $1.5 million to 122 organizations and governmental entities in the Kansas City area during 2015, the club announced on Monday.

"The monies went to support causes for children, education, youth baseball/softball and the military. Recipients included Big Brother Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City, Dream Factory, El Centro, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas RBI, KVC Health Systems, MOKAN 20/20 Leadership, Operation Breakthrough, Special Olympics KC Metro, The University of Kansas Hospital NICU and Whiteman Air Force Base.
