Groups in NY that give more than $50K to lobbying are required to disclose the names of donors who give over $5k; the NYCLU and an abortion group refuse.

"The entity that regulates lobbying in New York rejected three requests by abortion groups and the New York Civil Liberties Union to exempt their major donors from disclosure.

"Members of the Joint Commission on Public Ethics rebuffed applications from Family Planning Advocates and New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms—which argue for and against abortion rights, respectively—as well as the NYCLU. Each group offered evidence of harassment or violence against its staff and organizations in New York and elsewhere, but commissioners said there was not a link between those threats and current donors." --Jimmy Vielkind, Politico New York
