New AZ nonprofit Skate After School wins $15,000 in charity competition; gives lonely kids access to a new sport thanks to donated equipment.

"Skate After School was one of the biggest winners, receiving $15,000 from the Arizona Community Foundation’s Pakis Center for Business Philanthropy. The nonprofit skateboarding program partners volunteers with kids in low-income areas of greater Phoenix who take care of themselves after school. Using donated skateboard equipment, volunteers engage students in activities. The nonprofit is seeking to expand to 10 Valley schools by next year, and is trying to raise $20,000 through an Indiegogo campaign." -- Hayley Ringle, Phoenix Business Journal
