Arizona ranks close to the bottom when it comes to charitable giving and volunteerism-- but that's partly because it's poorer than other states.

"It may be the season for people to give. But a new report says compared to those living elsewhere, Arizonans don’t. The study by WalletHub finds when various factors are considered, Arizona is the fifth least-charitable state in the nation. Only residents of Nevada, West Virginia, Kentucky and New Jersey are more stingy with their time and money." -- Howard Fischer, the Arizona Daily Star
