CO nonprofit Citizen Awareness Project and nine other groups sue IRS for releasing details of its tax-exemption application to ProPublica.
"Citizen Awareness Project, a conservative Denver, Colo. non-profit, is suing the Internal Revenue Service for releasing to a digital news site its pending application for tax exempt status. The lawsuit, filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Colorado, is the first from nine conservative 501(c)(4) organizations whose applications, while bottled up for months by the IRS, were copied to ProPublica in response to an open records request." --Mark Lisheron, ColoradoWatchdog.org
